The veteran New South Wales golfer Peter O'Malley is a surprise co-leader going into the second round of the Moonah Links Classic in Melbourne.
43 year old O'Malley, who had a dismal last year in Europe, shot a 4-under par 68 yesterday to share the lead with four others including the Americans Hunter Haas and Daniel Summerhays.
Only 10 players broke 70 yesterday, and the only New Zealanders under par yesterday were David Smail and Mahal Pearce with 71s.
Last week's Johnnie Walker Classic winner Danny Lee started with a 74.
Meanwhile, Wellingtonian Mark Brown had an even par 72 on the first day of the Indonesian Open to be 8 strokes behind the Philipino leader Angelo Que who's four shots clear of the field.
