McCullum leads New Zealand to last ball win over India

7:04 am on 28 February 2009

A single off the last ball by Brendan McCullum has given New Zealand a thrilling five-wicket win over India in the second Twenty20 cricket international in Wellington.

Having restricted India to 149 for six, the Black Caps looked to be cantering to a win after a strong start but the run chase stuttered midway.

The Black Caps eventually needed 12 runs off the last over.

That became nine off the last three balls, but McCullum then hit two boundaries leaving the scores tied.

He then chipped the final delivery over the infield for single to win, although he had his heart in his mouth for a moment or two.

McCullum finished 69 not out with New Zealand winning the series two nil.

The two teams now head to Napier, with the first of five one dayers starting there on Tuesday.
