Leov impresses to win downhill mountainbike title

The world Number five ranked Justin Leov has won in the downhill title at New Zealand Mountainbike Championships in Nelson .

The Christchurch rider has just signed for the new Trek professional team and went in as the second fastest after the seeding run behind New Zealand team-mate Sam Blenkinsop of Wanganui) who won the dual slalom on Friday.

Leov finished in 3 minutes 21:74 seconds , just over a second faster than Blenkinsop.

Blenheim's Harriet Harper won the women's title, three seconds clear of Christchurch's Amy Laird.

Internationals Emmeline Ragot and Sabrina Jonnier of Francer and Germany's Harriet Reucknagal dominated the competition but were not eligible for national honours.
