Indian test players to warm up in State Championship

New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that six Indian test players will play for domestic teams as overseas players in the next two rounds of the State Championship.

New Zealand Cricket , the Players Association and the six Major Associations have agreed to provide game time before the test series starts on the 18th.

Rahul Dravid will play for Canterbury against Central Districts in Rangiora and legbreak bowler Amit Mishrah will play for CD, the game starting on Friday.

V V S Laxman will appear for Otago in Dunedin, in the same round and the right-arm medium fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji will play for Wellington.

The following round, from the 13th till the 16th, will see opening batsman M.Vijay and right-arm medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni playing in the Wellington-CD match, with their sides yet to be decided.

No Indian players will appear for Auckland or Northern Districts, avoiding any potential issues over the involvement of ICL players.

The Canterbury players contracted to the rebel league, Chris Harris and Shane Bond, played only limited overs cricket.
