The South African cricketers are fighting back in the first test against Australia after being set 454 to win at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith set up the chase with an opening partnership of 76, but the Australians removed both of them before stumps and South Africa finished the fourth day on 178 for 2, with Hashim Amla on 43 and Jacques Kallis 26.
