Southland has claimed another elite men's title at the National Track Cycling Championships in Invercargil, with Eddie Dawkins dominating the men's sprint final.
Dawkins beat arch-rival Simon van Velthooven of West Coast North Island 2-nil in the best of three sprint final.
He says he's done a lot of hard work, a lot of speed work and he'd said previously he's not going to let anyone take him to three rides in the final so he stuck to his word.
In the women's event defending champion Natasha Hansen beat fellow-Cantabrian Penny Day.
