The New Zealand women's cricket team has been beaten by India in Sydney their final warm match for the World Cup which starts this weekend.

After being asked to bat first India made 168 for 6 with Nicola Browne and Lucy Doolan both taking 2 wickets.

The White Ferns were then bowled out for 141 in 44 overs with Aimee Mason unbeaten on 39.

White Ferns coach Gary Stead was left rueing a lack of discipline and application by his batters against the three pronged Indian spin attack.

The opening match of the world cup is between New Zealand and defending champions Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
