ICC match referee "sitting duck" in Lahore attack

The International Cricket Council match referee Chris Broad says he and his colleagues were left like "sitting ducks" by a lack of security during Tuesday's attack on Sri Lanka's team bus in Lahore that left six players injured.

Broad, who was riding behind in a bus whose driver was killed, raised security concerns before the tour to Pakistan but said the "presidential style" protection he had been promised wasn't provided.

He said he was extremely angry that in their hour of need, their security just seemed to vanish.

Broad told a media conference on his return to England how he lay on the floor of the bus behind the critically injured Pakistani umpire Ahsan Raza as bullets flew around them.
