Huricanes tame Cheetahs

The Hurricanes have beaten the Cheetahs 29-12 in New Plymouth for their third win in four rounds of rugby's Super 14.

They scored four tries to two and led 17-5 at half-time but it wasn't a very convincing performance against a side which has won only once outside South Africa.

The left wing Hosea Gear got the first of his two tries before half-time then a well-executed move put fullback Tamati Ellison over to see the Hurricanes to a 17-5 half-time lead.

Prop John Schwalger barged over for the bonus point try 15 minutes from full-time after the Cheetahs' efforts had been rewarded with tries to halfback Sarel Pretorius and flanker Wayne van Heerden.
