U.S. proposes sprint challenge with Jamaica

The United States wants a showdown with Jamaica to determine which country has the best sprinters.

USA Track and Field's chief executive Doug Logan says it was obvious at the Olympic Games in Beijing that a compelling rivalry has developed.

Jamaica, led by the triple gold medallist Usain Bolt, dominated the sprints in Beijing a year after the U.S. produced the top sprinters at the 2007 world championships.

The showdown Logan proposes feature two competitions, one in each country with potential dates in May and June .
