Fouhy to take on Hawaii Ironman in year off kayaking

The World champion and Olympic medal winning kayaker Ben Fouhy has qualified for October's Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

Fouhy finished ninth in the 30-34 year age group to earn one of the the qualifying spots from his age group having decided to take a year off kayaking.

Thirty-five slots were taken up by New Zealanders including Commonwealth Games marathon runner Craig Kirkwood who won the 35-39 years age group.

Kumeu's Tiare Lund, a multi-world championship medallist, will be heading back to the world championships for the 17th time after winning the women's 60-64 years age group.
