NZ Open leader has simple plan

Three New Zealand golfers are well in contention going into the final round of the 1.2million dollar New Zealand Open championship at The Hills course in Arrowtown.

Grant Waite and Josh Geary are just one shot behind the outright leader, a fresh-faced American playing in only his fourth professional tournament.

23-year-old Martin Piller, who shot a third round 68, says he has a simple game plan for the final round.

He says he needs to shoot a very low number and not worry about what anyone else is doing.

Piller says if he tries to protect his lead by playing safe, he'll lose.

The New Zealand PGA champion Steven Alker is tied for 11th, but the top 14 players are only three shots apart.

The final group tees off this afternoon at 1.40pm.
