India set to break long drought in New Zealand

10:02 am on 18 March 2009

The pitch for the first New Zealand-India cricket test starting this morning at Seddon Park in Hamilton should favour the tourists.

It's expected to be flat rather than bouncy as the Black Caps would have preferred.

Although India easily won the one-day series they haven't won a test series here since 1968,

and their last single test win was in 1976.

But in recent years they've built up an impressive record away from home, and the Black Caps captain Daniel Vettori says the tourists have a huge advantage on the score of experience.

The match will start at 11 o'clock as scheduled, despite a late request from Indian broadcasters for a midday start.
