The Ferrari team boss Jean Todt has parted ways with the Italian car company after 16 years.

The Frenchman, who presided over the Formula One team's most successful period with six successive constructors' titles from 1999, handed over as team principal to Italian Stefano Domenicali at the end of 2007.

He resigned as Ferrari chief executive last March but stayed on as a board member.

However, Todt has now decided to resign from the board, and company altogether.
