Melbourne scores Tiger for Aussie Masters

Melbourne has signed the world golf number one Tiger Woods to play in the Australian Masters at Kingston Heath in November.

The Victorian premier John Brumby says the coup further cements Melbourne's position as the major events capital in the world.

Victorian taxpayers will foot half the 3-million dollars to foot half the 3.7 million dollar bill, but the premier says Woods visit would be worth 24-million dollars to the state.
