Cronulla suspend Seymour

6:36 am on 20 March 2009

Cronulla have stood down halfback Brett Seymour for two games and fined him 20 thousand dollars for an alcoholic bender last Sunday.

The NRL board could over-rule the Sharks' penalty and that of Roosters' hooker Jake Friend who was fined 10 thousand dollars for being charged with drink driving.

It is understood the Sharks received video footage of Seymour's behaviour and that helped convince the board to deal with his incident harshly.

Seymour's suspension comes just over a week after the NRL banned Manly's Brett Stewart for four weeks for being intoxicated at a club function.

The halfback will miss Cronulla's clash with Newcastle on Monday and St George Illawarra next week.
