Patel a chance for Napier test

Spin could be the answer for the New Zealand cricket team as it looks to recover from last weeks 10-wicket hiding, when the second test against India begins in Napier on Thursday.

The Black Caps frontline seam bowlers toiled for little reward in the first test, conceding 435 runs for just 7 wickets, and that figure gets worse if you add in Jesse Ryder's nine wicketless overs.

But the head of the New Zealand selection panel, Glenn Turner, says indications are that the McLean Park pitch could warrant picking two spinners, which opens the door for Jeetan Patel.

Turner says Patel's 5 wicket bag and 44 runs for Wellington over the weekend didn't go unnoticed.
