11:06 am on 24 March 2009

The allrounder Jacob Oram will have another chance to prove his match fitness for test cricket today when Central Districts will start the final day of their State Championship match in New Plymouth.

Oram wasn't considered for the Black Caps squad for the second test starting in Napier on Thursday.

The head of the selection panel GlennTurner says Oram's had only a couple of days in the domestic four day championship and will benefit from more game time

Central Districts are 74 without loss and need another 374 runs to beat Canterbury .

They're second on 25 points, 10 behind Auckland who are already into the final.

With one round to go Wellington are third on 22 points after their first innings win over Otago at the Basin Reserve.
