Bulldogs will appeal against docked points

The Canterbury Bulldogs have admitted having a 14th player on the field briefly in the final minutes of their last gasp win over over Penrith last weekend, but they'll be appealing the National Rugby League's deicison to dock them two premiership points.

The issue was first raised by Fox Sport who checked their television footage on Sunday, the day after the match, and discovered that the Bulldogs captain Andrew Ryan illegally returned to the field after being interchanged, and there were 14 men on the field when they scored the match-winning try.

The NRL has said regardless of the outcome of any appeal, Penrith would not be awarded the competition points.

For the moment, the Warriors and the Brisbane Broncos are the only two teams with maximum points.
