The Auckland golfer Ryan Fox went agonisingly close to a place in the final at the Australian Amateur championship in Brisbane yesterday, losing to the Victorian Daniel Beckman on the 19th hole.
Fox and Beckman traded five birdies in the last four holes of the match before the Australian closed out the match on the first extra hole.
Beckman plays New South Wales Scott Arnold in today's final.
