Witt confirms switch from league to union and signs with Otago

The Warriors standoff Michael Witt has confirmed he's switching codes and signed to play rugby for Otago.

The 25-year-old, joined the Auckland club in 2007 will move to Dunedin in a couple of weeks.

He says a former Warriors team-mate Ryan Shortland is playing in Otago and that made tjhe decision a bit easier.

Witt says he other offers in league and rugby but decided it would be best to stay in New Zealand if he wanted to learn the 15-man game properly.

He's already proved himself to be one of the NRL's top goalkickers, with a success rate of over 90 percent and is the third highest points-scorer in Warriors' history.

Witt has played 90 NRL games, 43 for the Warriors and 47 for his two previous clubs Parramatta and Manly.
