Brawn beefs up its challenge

7:03 pm on 25 March 2009

The new Brawn Formula One team has attracted yet another disciple with rival team boss Sir Frank Williams suggesting the Mercedes powered cars have the potential to dominate Sunday's F1 season-opener in Melbourne.

Williams says Brawn's car is absurdly superior based on its test track performances and makes the other teams look like amateurs. since taking Honda's place on the Grand Prix grid.

Test times have been so startling the team boss Ross Brawn has been forced to deny he has been submitting doctored timesheets to try to attract sponsors.

There've also been suggestions the car's been run without a full tank of fuel fuel so it's beneath the official minimum weight of 605kg plus driver.

Honda announced its withdrawal from Formula One in December but is still bankrolling Brawn to the tune of $US100 million for the season.
