New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has won the toss and elected to bat first in the second cricket test against India in Napier.

India lead the series one-nil after beating the Black Caps by ten wickets in last weeks opening test in Hamilton.

Jamie How comes into the side for the injured Daniel Flynn, who has a hand injury, while spinner Jeetan Patel has been preferred to paceman Kyle Mills.

And in a late withdrawal India captain MS Dhoni has been ruled out with a sore back, to be replaced by reserve wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik.

Virender Sehwag will captain the side.
