Rogge arrives in NZ

The President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge has arrived in New Zealand for meetings in Wellington and the Oceania Olympic Committee General Assembly in Queenstown this week.

Tommorrow Mr Rogge will call on the Governor General the Hon. Anand Satyanand before spending time with the New Zealand Olympic Committee at the Olympic Museum Gallery.

He will also meet with Prime Minster John Key tomorrow before Mr Key hosts a parliamentary reception for the President in the evening.

Olympians, including Caroline Evers Swindell and Georgina Earle, will be joined at the function by leaders of sport, government and business.

The IOC President will then head to Queenstown for the ONOC General Assembly.... Olympic bid cities Madrid, Tokyo, Paris and Rio de Janeiro will make presentations to the delegates ahead of voting for the 2016 Olympic host city later this year.

Sports hoping for inclusion at the 2016 Olympic Games, including Rugby 7s, will also make presentations and Lord Sebastian Coe will update the assembly on progress around the London 2012 Olympic Games.
