Titans flyer fined, banned for drink driving

2:34 pm on 31 March 2009

The Gold Coast Titans speedster Ben Jeffery has become the latest NRL player to rue a drinking session.

Jeffery, 21, was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for five months after pleading guilty in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.

He was arrested for drink driving after a random breath test in December showed his blood alcohol

level was more than twice the limit.

Jeffery is expected to face further punishment from his club.

Alcohol consumption by players has become a major issue in the NRL in 2009 since the fallout over Manly's disastrous season launch.
