Third straight loss for defending champions

6:30 am on 31 March 2009

Manly's National Rugby League premiership defence is off to the worst possible start.

The Sea Eagles last night crashed to their third straight loss with a 12-10 defeat at home by Penrith.

The club world champions share last place alongside Canberra with no wins from three matches, while it was Penrith's first win of the season.

The Brisbane Broncos are the only team with three wins, and the Warriors are one of eight teams with two wins and a loss.
