Ballesteros grateful for second chance

6:37 am on 1 April 2009

The Spanish golfing great Seve Ballesteros has spoken for the first time about his battle to survive a brain tumour, describing his fight for life as akin to playing for a sixth major championship title.

51 year old Ballesteros has had three operations and is currently undergoing a fourth round of chemotherapy since he collapsed on an escalator at Madrid airport early last October.

He says he still faces the battle of his life to get well, but his spirits have been raised by the more than 300-thousand messages of support he's had in the last six months.
