Third place Tour de France cyclist faces prison

The Austrian cyclist Bernhard Kohl, who was stripped of his third placing in last year's Tour de France for drug use, faces a maximum five-year prison sentence after admitting to blood-doping and other offences.

Kohl has admitted that he went to the Viennese laboratory Humanplasma for transfusions with blood supplied by his former manager, three or four times year.

Kohl, the best climber at last year's Tour de France, had only previously admitted to using the banned blood booster EPO.

He was handed a two-year suspension in October by the Austrian anti-doping agency.
