Edwards into World Cup decider

The New Zealand lawn bowler Jo Edwards has qualified for the final of the World Cup indoor women's singles in Australia.

In what may be her last appearance in New Zealand colours, Edwards could exit in style if she can beat Australian favourite, Karen Murphy, in the decider.

If she does, Edwards will follow young Black Jacks team-mate Genevieve Baildon, who on Wednesday walked away with the World Junior Cup women's title.

Edwards, who won her section, beat American Rosa Gandara in the quarter-finals and then repeated her section win over Guernsey's reigning World Cup champion, Allison Merrien, in the semi-finals.

Edwards announced recently that, although she hasn't officially retired, she is leaving the game until at least after the Commonwealth Games in 2010, when she will reconsider if she wants to return to international play.
