Serena slumps to new queen Victoria

The Belarussian teenager Victoria Azarenka has clinched the first major title of her tennis career by beating the top seed and world Number one Serena Williams 6-3 6-1 in the Miami WTA hardcourt final.

Williams was bidding to claim a record sixth title and third in a row but was badly affected by a left thigh injury.

She double faulted five times, succeeded with only 54 per cent of her first serves and made 34 unforced errors.

Nineteen-year-old Azarenka saysd she was racked with fear as she served for the title, which will lift her world ranking to eighth.
