Taupo's Bevan Docherty won the men's elite triathlon race in the ITU Continental Cup race in New Plymouth, while Canada's Kirsten Sweetland won the women's race.
Docherty missed the lead group out of the water, but it wasn't long before he caught the lead group on the bike and then took control on the run to win by 10 seconds from fellow New Zealander Clarke Ellis with German Andreas Raelert third.
Sweetland confirmed her great form after her second World Cup win in Mooloolaba last weekend, running clear of New Zealander Nicky Samuels and Kiyomi Niwata of Japan.
