The Chiefs rugby coach Ian Foster is optimistic All Black wing Sitiveni Sivivatu will play some part in the Super Rugby franchise's three-match South African tour but Lelia Masaga won't be so lucky.
The Waikato-based franchise have climbed to second on the Super 14 ladder on the back of five straight wins, although it's come at a cost with Masaga set to be on the sidelines for at least a month with an ankle injury.
Foster says Masaga and James Wilson, who has a hamstring injury, won't travel with the team to South Africa and both are targeting a return to action against the Hurricanes in four weeks time.
Sosene Anesi is also a week or two away from returning and the New Zealand Sevens representative Tim Mikkelson has been drafted into the squad as cover.
