The Australian former world number one tennis player Lleyton Hewitt has won the US Men's Clay Court Championship final in Houston, his first clay court title in 10 years.

Hewitt beat the American Wayne Odesnik 6-2 7-5 in just over two hours at River Oaks to claim his first ATP TOur title since 2007.

Hewitt was 18 when he last won a tournament on clay, back in May 1999 at Delray Beach, which was just his second of 27 career titles.

He's the first Australian to win the US Men's Clay Court Championship since Jason Stoltenberg, who took home the title in 1994.

The two-time grand slam champion's last previous title and previous final was in Las Vegas in 2007.
