The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have suggested the pressure of coaching in the trans-Tasman netball competition may be getting to the former Australian captain Vicki Wilson.
Wilson, who coaches the Queensland Firebirds, has speculated the Magic are breaching the competition's salary cap, questioning how they can field a shadow Silver Ferns side yet remain under the $300,000 limit.
Wilson says even if it's topped up by legal third party payments it's not good for the long term as it can create an imbalance in the competition.
But Magic CEO Martin Ellis feels there may well be some sort of gamesmanship in Wilson's comments.
The organisers of the tournament say the Magic were one of the teams selected for a random audit last year and their books were in order.
