Kahui cleared of spear tackle charge

6:04 am on 20 April 2009

The Chiefs players Richard Kahui and James McGougan have been cleared after being cited -- the All Black centre Kahui for a dangerous tackle and McGougan for trampling an unidentified Cheetahs player.

The tighthead prop McGougan pleaded guilty and was represented by coach Ian Foster.

He was reprimanded after the judicial officer viewed tape of the incident for which McGougan was penalised early in the match.

Kahui denied tackling Frans Viljoen dangerously and was cleared because there was no evidence he'd lifted the Cheetahs replacement, or driven him into the ground.
