Burnley has put a potentially decisive dent into Sheffield United's chances of securing automatic promotion to English football's Premier League with a 1-0 win over the Blades at Turf Moor.

The win lifts Burnley to fifth and gives the Lancashire side renewed hope of qualifying for the end-of-season play-offs, which will determine the third and final club to be promoted to the top flight.

The Championship leaders Wolverhampton are already into the top flight with one automatic promotion place still available.

United's loss leaves them four points behind second-placed Birmingham, who can clinch automatic promotion if they beat Preston on Sunday.
