Swimming NZ pulls out of hosting FINA swimming world cup

Swimming New Zealand's been forced to withdraw from hosting a round of the FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup next year, after falling victim to the economic downturn.

They've been unable to raise the $80,000 in sponsorship required to host the event in Wellington.

CEO Mike Byrne says that's despite pitching their proposal to more than 25 major companies and having secured US television coverage to over 30 million homes.
