All Whites could meet Australia before Football World Cup

Updated at 6:45pm on 18 November 2009

The All Whites could meet Australia's Socceroos in a build-up match for the football World Cup next year.

Football Federation Australia says if the New Zealand side is not drawn as one of their group opponents on December 4, a friendly game could be on the cards.

This is good news for New Zealand Football, who have been worried that getting warm-up matches before the World Cup in June could be difficult.

New Zealand Football's CEO Michael Glading says they would be equally keen for a match if the opportunity arose, and will discuss the possibility further with All Whites management in the coming weeks.
