Updated at 12:07pm on 26 November 2009

The world tennis number two Rafael Nadal has been knocked out of the ATP World Tour Finals in London after Nikolay Daydenko beat him 6-1, 7-6, the Spaniard's second loss in a row in straight sets.

Nadal lost the first set in only 27 minutes before fighting back to go 5-4 up in the second, only to see Davydenko break to serve for the match.

Another break by Nadal forced a marathon tie break, with one rally lasting 36 shots, before the Russian world number seven took the win with a great forehand.

Earlier Robin Soderling became the first to reach the semi-finals after beating the world number three Novak Djokovic 7-6 6-1.
