99 not out for Tindill

Updated at 11:52am on 19 December 2009

New Zealand's only cricket and rugby Test double international, Eric Tindill, has turned 99.

Tindill played one rugby Test against England in 1936 and played five cricket Tests between 1937 and 1947.

He also represented New Zealand in table tennis and was an international rugby referee and cricket umpire.

His daughter Molly Tindill says though her dad enjoyed every moment of his sporting years, there's probably one stand-out memory.

She says the day he got married the ceremony was in the morning and in the afternoon he played cricket, helping salvage a draw in a Test against England with his friend Jack Cowie before getting on a ship that evening to sail for the UK.
