Bulldogs lose appeal against docked points

The National Rugby League has rejected an appeal by the Canterbury Bulldogs against the docking of two competition points after they briefly had 14 men on the field in their second round match against Penrith.

The NRL Appeals Committee ruled the Bulldogs had little chance of winning an appeal, because it was an undisputed fact that they had 14 players on the field when they scored the winning try.

NRL chief executive David Gallop said given the scope of legal submissions which required adjudication, clubs needed to re-think their attitudes towards the appeals process.
