The banished Australian swimmer Nick D'Arcy will be eligible to return to the national team in August after being dumped from the world championships because of an assault conviction against a former team mate.

Swimming Australia has cleared the way for the 21-year-old Queenslander to return to competition after the world championships in Rome which finish on the 2nd of August.

D'Arcy had been booted off the Beijing Olympic and this year's world championship teams and he was recently given a 14 months suspended sentence for assault.
