Australia will not go to Chennai for the Davis Cup tie against India next month because of security concerns, Tennis Australia has decided.
The decision followed the International Tennis Federation board's decision to reject Tennis Australia's appeal to shift the tie out of India.
Tennis Australia president Geoff Pollard sauid in a statement the ITF decision left Australia no option as it would be irresponsible to send players in to such a high risk situation..
He said while the Davis Cup was important "some things are more important than tennis."
