United romp home to stay top

The English football champions Manchester United have come from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-2 at home and regain top place in the Premier League, after Liverpool won 3-1 at Hull City.

Manchester United produced a thrilling comeback, scoring five goals in 22 second-half minutes to surge from 2-0 down.

Spurs led until the 57th minute at Old Trafford but a controversial penalty allowed United back in and they ran riot with two goals each for Cristiano Ronaldo and an inspired Wayne Rooney and one by Dimitar Berbatov.

Elsewhere lowly West Bromwich Albion scored a rare win, beating Sunderland 3-0 at home.

There were also wins for Manchester City, 2-1 at Everton, Chelsea won 1-0 at West Ham United and Fulham triumphed 1-0 over Stoke City.

Bolton Wanderers drew 1-1 with visitors Aston Villa.
