Hurricanes go to top of Super 14 competition

The Hurricanes have gone to the top of the Super 14 rugby compeition, with three rounds to go being the only New Zealand side to chalk up a win this weekend.

The Hurricanes beat the ACT Brumbies 56-7 running in eight tries in the process and now sit top of the ladder on 34 points.

Previous competition leaders the Chiefs slipped to third in going down to the Bulls in Pretoria 33-27, who're now second overall just a point behind the Hurricanes.

The Durban based Sharks are fourth having had a bye this weekend while Blues are in fifth despite their dire effort against the lowly Queensland Reds, in going down 31-24 at North Harbour last night.

The Crusaders are eight after being toppled by the bottom placed Cheetahs in South Africa 20-13.

The Higlanders are tenth having lost 18-11 to the Stormers in Dunedin.
