Unique hattrick still on for Spearman-Burn

7:35 am on 27 April 2009

A unique hattrick of titles is still possible for the 19 year old amateur golfer Peter Spearman-Burn who's through to the last eight at the New Zealand Amateur championship at Titirangi in Auckland.

The current North and South Island champion from Wellington will have to be at his best this morning in his quarter-final against Australia's world number one Scott Arnold.

The surprise men's quarter-finalist at Tiriangi is the veteran host club member Rob Noffke who last played in the amateur championship 25 years ago.

He's had to ask for today off work.

The women's quarter-finalists include the North Island champion Lydia Ko who celebrated her 12th birthday at the weekend, and the 14 year old South Island champion Cecilia Cho.
