Breakers delighted by head coach's Australian job

The New Zealand Breakers General Manager Richard Clarke says the club's delighted its head coach Andrej Lemanis is to take up an assistant coaching role with the Australian men's basketball side.

Clarke say the appointment is an endorsement of Lemanis's abilities as a coach and his work in taking the Breakers to the play-offs two years in a row.

He has no issue with the time Lemanis will have to commit to the Australian programme as the benefits far outweigh any negatives.

Lemanis says he owes a lot to the Breakers for their support over the last four years and wouldn't have accepted if he thought it would compromise in any way his work at the Breakers.

Basketball Australia has confirmed that Lemanis will work alongside its new head coach Brett Brown,

with whom Lemanis has formed a strong association during his annual visits to the San Antonio Spurs.

The other three assistants include the four-time Olympian and former Boomers captain Shane Heal.
