Melbourne has gained revenge over Manly in their National Rugby League grand final re-match, winning 22-8 in Sydney.

Belted 40-0 in last year's decider, the Storm got partial payback by compounding Manly's season of misery, inflicting their sixth defeat in eight games and continuing the champion Sea Eagles' winless run without star fullback Brett Stewart.

Also in Sydney, Parramatta's NRL season finally clicked into gear as the Eels held on to beat North Queensland 28-18.

The Parramatta fullback Jarryd Hayne starred, scoring one try and setting up two others in an inspired performance to steer the Eels to their third win of the year.
