No spectators will be able to watch Mexican football matches

7:30 am on 2 May 2009

Every professional football match in Mexico this weekend, 176 in all divisions, will be played in front of empty stands.

The decision to ban spectators has been made to help slow the spread of swine flu.

The ban stretches from nine top division matches to 12 first division games, 40 in the second division and 115 in the third tier.
