A Frankton rugby player has been banned for life from rugby after punching a referee at a match in Hamilton last Saturday.
During the Senior B grade match between Frankton and Te Rapa, Taylor Sione punched the referee in the second half after being issued with a red card.
After hearing evidence from all parties involved, the Waikato Rugby Union judicial committee handed down the life ban.
